Terra Alta Apart Hotel

Terra Alta sits in the area known as Las Pendientes, on the slopes of Cerro Chapelco, a few minutes from the ski center of San Martín de los Andes. The building uses wood and stone as its primary materials, with large windows that frame the ancient forest, Lanín Volcano, and Lago Lácar. The architectural approach is not merely decorative: every space is oriented toward the landscape, letting natural light set the interior mood throughout the year.

The apartments measure 50 m² across two rooms. The bedroom features a La Cardeuse sommier configured as either a double or two twin beds; the living and dining area has additional beds to accommodate up to six guests. There are two full bathrooms with both shower and bathtub. Heating is provided by radiant floor panels, a system that maintains even warmth without drafts — particularly appreciated during winter stays. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator with freezer, electric oven, microwave, stovetop, electric kettle, and a full set of dishware, allowing guests to be self-sufficient without relying on the restaurant for every meal.

Access to the jacuzzi and sauna is included with the stay, as are Wi-Fi and parking. The hotel provides daily housekeeping with linen and towel changes. There is also a restaurant serving Cordilleran cuisine with dinner service, a fireplace lounge used as a communal gathering space, and a games room.

One of the property’s distinctive features is its two private ski runs: one measuring 400 meters served by a T-bar lift, and another of 850 meters with a triple chairlift. These allow guests to ski directly from the accommodation before or after using the full facilities of Cerro Chapelco, whose ski center is five minutes away. Outside winter season, the forest setting serves as a starting point for hikes, kayaking, canoeing, rafting on the lake network, fly fishing, and all-terrain quad tours.

Terra Alta’s position on the mountain, set apart from the urban center of San Martín de los Andes, defines the character of the stay: it suits travelers who prioritize immersion in the natural environment and have their own transportation more than those who prefer to walk everywhere in town. Reaching the heart of San Martín — with its restaurants, shops, and lakefront on Lago Lácar — takes a few minutes by car, but that same distance is what ensures unobstructed views and the quiet of the forest.
