Cabañas Bosque Nevado
Set within Ski Village Las Pendientes at 1,500 metres above sea level on the slopes of Cerro Chapelco, Cabañas Bosque Nevado offers something genuinely rare in Argentine Patagonia: the ability to ski out directly from the cabin door. No shuttle, no morning trek with equipment on your back—the snow is there the moment you step outside.
The complex currently has four cabins of 100 m² each, designed for families or groups of up to five or six guests. Each unit has two bedrooms—one with a queen bed and one with three or four single beds—two full bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. That domestic independence is central to what the place offers: Chapelco is a full mountain experience, and being able to have breakfast looking out at the forest before clipping into your skis is part of the rhythm the property is designed around.
The immediate surroundings are a forest of century-old lenga beeches. Nothofagus pumilio—the lenga—is the emblematic tree of Patagonia’s sub-Andean forests. In autumn its canopy turns the hillside deep amber and red; in winter those same trees hold snowfall and frame views toward the pistes below. Ski Village Las Pendientes is a mountain development within the resort itself, which means Bosque Nevado guests enjoy operational proximity to the lifts and facilities without being in the noisiest part of the action—a position that balances convenience with a degree of quiet.
Cerro Chapelco is one of Argentina’s major ski centres. Located about 20 kilometres from San Martín de los Andes, it offers roughly 30 runs across all ability levels, modern lift infrastructure, and a well-established base area. San Martín de los Andes itself sits on the shores of Lago Lacar in Neuquén Province, within the buffer zone of Parque Nacional Lanín, and draws visitors year-round: skiing in winter, hiking, lake navigation, and mountain biking through the warmer months. Staying on the mountain at Bosque Nevado is a different proposition from commuting up from the town centre each day.
An expansion is planned in the Nordic style: twelve additional smaller units—six for three to four guests and six for four to five—plus two private-bath suites and a bar and rest area, targeted for completion in 2025. The expansion aims to broaden the offering within the same concept: slope-side accommodation integrated into the high-altitude forest, without sacrificing the independence of a self-contained unit with its own kitchen.
Bookings are managed directly through the property’s own website, with no third-party channels listed at time of writing. For those planning a winter season at Chapelco who value immediate access to the slopes above proximity to village nightlife, Bosque Nevado is a niche option with a concrete, hard-to-replicate advantage.
