Filuko

Located at kilometer 2168 of National Route 40, on the shores of Lago Villarino and halfway between Villa La Angostura (60 minutes) and San Martín de los Andes (45 minutes), Filuko is the ideal base for exploring Patagonia’s Route of the 7 Lakes on horseback. Options range from a one-hour ride for first-timers to four-day expeditions through trails that only local guides know — the same paths their great-grandparents used to drive cattle up to summer alpine pastures.

Packages and experiences

Cabalgata Express — ARS 30,000 per person/hour. The perfect option for those who want a brief taste of riding without giving up the rest of their day. Panoramic trails, gentle horses, helmet included. Suitable for families, couples, and groups of any experience level.

Aventura con Gustito Patagónico — ARS 100,000 per person. Four hours combining a two-hour panoramic ride with a Patagonian Picada on your return: artisan cheeses, cured meats, olives, and field bread or fried cakes, with the mountain smoke as a backdrop. Book at least 48 hours in advance.

Tardecita Patagónica — ARS 100,000 per person. Same four-hour format, but the ride ends with a countryside-style afternoon tea: homemade bread, regional jams, savory tarts, and a hot drink. Book at least 48 hours in advance.

Travesía Ruta de la Veranada — USD 800 per person. The deepest experience: four days and three nights riding the historic droving trails through Nahuel Huapi National Park, between ancient forests, crystal-clear lakes, and murmuring streams. Nights are spent at open-air campsites or Filuko’s own base camp; all meals included. Book at least 15 days in advance.
