Bodega La Azul
Located in the Agua Amarga and Vista Flores areas of the Tunuyán department, Bodega La Azul is a project that integrates winemaking with hospitality. The estate operates in a region of considerable importance for Mendoza’s wine tourism, situated in the Alto Valle de Uco at elevations ranging between 1,100 and 1,200 metres above sea level. What defines this space is its domestic character, where high-altitude wine production coexists with a restaurant focused on regional cuisine.
Identity and territory
The winery grounds its identity in the climatic and geographic conditions of the Valle de Uco. Furrow and drip irrigation systems support vineyards that produce varieties such as Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, with specific yields per hectare. Production is oriented toward intensity and complexity, reflected in labels that present notes of ripe red fruit, forest berries, and hints of pepper or vanilla depending on the blend.
The physical setting is shaped by the presence of the Cordón del Plata, a mountain formation that serves as a backdrop for the estate’s activities. This visual connection with the mountain range is a constant feature of the experience at the winery, integrating the Andean landscape with the productive activity of the vineyards.
The restaurant offering and surroundings
The restaurant area, operating since 2011, is a central element of the visit. The space is designed to complement wine tasting with a culinary offering that prioritises local produce — including cuts of Argentine beef — intended to pair with the grape varieties grown on the same estate. The offering is tailored to midday hours, when Mendoza’s climate lends itself to substantial meals outdoors or under the shade of the vineyards.
The layout of the estate allows for a progression that moves from an appreciation of the winemaking process through to the dining experience. It is not simply a technical stop to taste a glass, but a space where the scale of the winery — described by its own team as simple and welcoming — makes it possible to understand the production process in close proximity to the producer.
Wine context in Tunuyán
Bodega La Azul is part of a constellation of wineries that define the identity of southern Mendoza. By working in areas such as Agua Amarga and Vista Flores, the estate contributes to the productive fabric of a region where altitude plays a determining role in the organoleptic quality of the wines. The focus on varieties such as Malbec — with soft tannins and long finishes — responds to the demands of a territory that has consolidated its international reputation through precision in vineyard management and close attention to detail in the ageing process.
