Gran Amérian Portal del Iguazú
Gran Amérian Portal del Iguazú is a five-star hotel occupying a singular position at the northern edge of Puerto Iguazú: just 100 metres from the Triple Frontier monument, the marker that pinpoints the confluence of the Iguazú and Paraná rivers at the corner where Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay meet. From the hotel’s grounds, guests have an unobstructed view over this triple border — a vantage point few properties in the city can match.
The hotel’s 117 rooms are distributed across Standard, Superior, Junior Suite and Portal Suite categories, each available in two orientations: garden view or river view. River-facing rooms look directly onto the stretch of water that defines the boundary between the three countries. The property also offers “Green Rooms” — an ecofriendly category designed to reduce the environmental footprint of each stay, in keeping with the surrounding subtropical Misiones jungle.
The Yvy Mara’y spa occupies the top floor of the building. The name — drawn from the Guaraní concept of a mythical “land without evil” — sets the tone: treatments formulated from native raw materials of the Misiones rainforest, using local aromas and plant essences. The top-floor location adds an extra dimension to the experience; from the treatment rooms it is possible to see both the river confluence and the green canopy stretching toward the national park.
The gastronomic offer centres on two distinct spaces. La Misión restaurant combines a contemporary aesthetic with visual references to the Guaraní-Jesuit heritage of the Misiones region and serves cuisine rooted in local ingredients. Bar Malena takes tango culture as its motif — a Buenos Aires accent planted in the middle of the subtropical jungle, and a natural gathering point after a day of excursions.
For longer stays, the hotel provides a heated indoor pool, an outdoor pool, sun deck, barbecue and quincho areas, a football pitch, tennis court and a children’s play room. The range of outdoor facilities means that a stay of three or four nights does not depend entirely on organised trips to the national park.
Gran Amérian Portal del Iguazú is also one of the leading convention venues in the region. Its Convention Centre spans 2,300 m² and accommodates up to 750 guests in auditorium format or 1,000 for cocktail receptions. The Andrés Guacurary room — named after the Misiones independence leader — adds a further 380 m² for mid-scale events. Both spaces are equipped with full AV infrastructure, professional sound systems and event lighting.
For access to the main sights, Iguazú Falls are 15 kilometres away via the national route leading to the national park, and the international airport is 18 km from the hotel. The location on Avenida Tres Fronteras, 900 metres from the Puerto Iguazú town centre, also makes the Triple Frontier waterfront walkable on foot.
